What is a course?

A course is a series of lectures or lessons on a particular subject, leading to an examination, certification, or qualification. For instance, an IELTS Course.

Each course is designed to help students achieve a set of learning objectives. If someone’s objective is to improve communication skills, he can opt for an English Speaking Course. Similarly, if someone wants to take the IELTS exam, she can go for the IELTS Course.

A course is taught by one or more than one instructor who is qualified and trained in that particular subject.

Instructors can see the list of courses they teach by clicking the My Courses tab in their profiles.

A list of all the courses along with their names and brief descriptions appear.

What is a batch?

A batch is an instance of a specific course with a fixed schedule for classes. A batch has the following attributes:

  • It’s of a specific course
  • Its classes have a defined schedule e.g. Mon-Fri at 3 PM or Tue, Thu, Sat at 9 AM, etc.
  • It is taught by a specific instructor
  • Each enrollment has a fixed duration allocated e.g. 6 weeks or 30 days, etc.

For instance, if you look at the following batch for IELTS Writing and Speaking Course, it has a start date, an end date, total duration of the course, timings of the class, number of enrolments and the percentage of course completed.

While a batch usually has a fixed group of learners who attend the classes on the given schedule, a batch can also consist of just one student, that way all classes of the batch would be one-to-one between the learner and instructor.

View Batches

To view your batches for a course:

  • Click the My Courses tab in the main menu of your profile. A list of all of your courses appears.
  • Click View Batches to view the batches for a particular course. (If, instead of View Batches you see Batches Not Available, this simply means no batch exists for that course.)
  • A sub screen will appear that shows Upcoming & Ongoing and Past batches.

As mentioned earlier, for each batch you can view information like start date, end date, total duration of the course, timings of the class, number of enrolments and the percentage of course completed.
