Vedic Maths: Balancing Technique

In this method of Vedic Math, we will be learning about a technique that will help us to multiply a number ‘x’ with any single digit number. There is no limit on the value of the number. This method is applicable to a number with any value. Children from class 8 and above can refer to this method for easy multiplication. Before learning how we can use this method in multiplication, let’s understand the steps followed in this technique. Start from the right hand side. Drop the digit at the rightmost place and carry the next number to the left. The number carried to the left is now added to the value of the number present. Repeat the second and third steps until you reach the leftmost place. Now, let’s discuss the application of this balancing technique. We use this method when, we want to multiply any number with a single digit number that is, of the form - ‘x’ * Single Digit. Note that, it does not matter whether we perform the multiplication from left to right or right left but, it should be kept in mind that balancing is always done from right to left.
