Vedic Maths: How to Divide Any Number with Any number

In this video of Vedic Maths, we will be learning a method of division that will help us to divide any number with any number. Kids from class 9 and above can use this method for division of two numbers quickly. To understand this method, let us take the help of an example.

For Example, we need to divide 9875 by 42. Now, 42 is close to 40, that is, it is two more than the base. Here, base refers to 40 and now the term complement refers to -2. Step one  involves copying down the first digit, which is the leftmost digit as it is. Next, step two consists of dividing this digit with 4, that is ignoring 0 of the base and considering only 4 as a divisor. Now, in step three, the quotient will be multiplied to the complement and the product obtained is added to the next digit of the dividend. Lastly, in step four the number obtained as the sum will now be divided with the divisor that is 4 in this case. These steps are repeated until one reaches the rightmost digits of the dividend. Note that, if there is a remainder obtained after dividing, then it is carried to the next number. Also, since the divisor is of two digits, the rightmost two digits of the dividend will form the remainder of the division.
