Vedic Maths: Divide Any Number When Divisor is 11

This is a special kind of division method used to solve examples when the divisor is 11. This method is derived from the Vedic Maths sutras. This method is considered to be one of the easiest methods in the division. Children from the age group 7 years and above are easily able to learn this method.

Using this method, children will be able to perform division of any number including 2-3-4 or more digits when the divisor is 11 and that is too in just 3-4 seconds. This method requires just the knowledge of subtraction. There are no other prerequisites required to learn this method. With a considerable amount of practice, children are able to solve these types of division sums mentally too, without any pen and paper. This Vedic math trick is very useful in school math exams and competitive exams.

Let’s learn this method with an example. Divide 346 by 11. 

1. Drag the first number 3 from dividend in the answer which is equal to 3
2. Now, perform subtraction of 2nd digit of dividend & digit from step-1

                4 - 3 = 1

1. Now, perform subtraction of 3rd digit of dividend & digit from step-2

                6 - 1 = 5

1. Here, 31 will be the quotient and last digit 5 will be the reminder.
2. 31.5 is the answer here.
