Vedic Maths: Cube of a Number

In this video of Vedic Math, we will see and learn a trick to find the cube of a two digit number in less time and with accuracy. Students from class 9 and above can easily understand and use this method. Before moving with the steps and methods of this trick, there are two prerequisites that one should have knowledge about. These are - To calculate the cubes of numbers ranging from 1 to 100, one must know the cubes from numbers 1 to 10.  Secondly, one must know the concept of balancing technique is used here, to compute the final answer of the cube of a number.

The method includes a formula that one should remember in order to find the cube of a number quickly. It is:  (ab)3 = a3 / 3ab . a / 3ab . b / b3. The forward slashes used in the given formula refers to the concept of balancing technique which we will be using to get to the final answer. Consider the given example for clearer understanding.

Question: Find the cube of 71. 

Answer:

Here, a = 7 & B = 1

By putting the values in the formula, we get:

(71)3 = 73 / (3x7x1) . 7 / (3x7x1) . 1 / 13

= 343 / 147 / 21 / 1

= 3,57,911 (Final Answer)
