Vedic Maths: Algebra Sunyam Sutra (Meaning – VI)
About the video
This video of Vedic Math focuses on simple linear equations and their solutions using Vedic Math Sutras. The video is for students in class nine and above. In this video, we will be understanding the sixth meaning of the sutra Shunya Samyasaamuchhye. The name of the sutra used is “Shunya Samyasaamuchhye” - शून्य साम्यसमुच्चये. Here, ‘saamuchhye’ (समुच्चये) may include subtraction too. This is in the case of a quadratic equation when the variable has two possible values.
Example
Solve: { (4x+7)/ (3x + 4) } = { (4x + 3) /(5x+6) }
Answer:
Step - 1:
- Check the sum of numerators
4x + 7 + 4x + 3 = 8x + 10
- Check the sum of denominators
3x + 4 + 5x + 6 = 8x + 10
- Equate the sum to zero
8x + 10 = 0
8x = -10
Therefore, x = -5/4
Step - 2: Observe the coefficients of x2 on cross multiplication. If, they are not equal find the difference of numerator & denominator.
Coefficients of x2 on cross multiplying: 4x5= 20 and 3x4 = 12
Here, 20 is not equal to 12.
Therefore, find N1 ~ D2 (5x + 6) - (4x + 7) = x - 1
N2 ~ D1 (4x + 3) - (3x + 4) = x - 1
Put this equal to 0
Therefore, x-1=0 i.e., x = 1
Hence, x= -5/4 and x=1 (Because, it is a quadratic Equation)
