In this video, we will be understanding the fourth meaning of the sutra Shunya Samyasaamuchhye. The name of the sutra used is “Shunya Samyasaamuchhye” - शून्य साम्यसमुच्चये. Here, ‘saamuchhye’ (समुच्चये) means that if the sum of numerators is equal to the sum of denominators, then equate that sum to zero.
Example
Solve: { (4x+9)/ (7x + 5) } = { (7x + 5) /(4x+9) }
Answer:
- Check the sum of numerators.
4x + 9 + 7x + 5 = 11x + 14
- Check the sum of denominators.
7x + 5 + 4x + 9 = 11x + 14
- If sum of numerators = sum of denominators, then
11x + 14 = 0
11x = -14
Therefore, x = -14 / 11
