Vedic Maths: Algebra Sunyam Sutra (Meaning – II)

This video of Vedic Math focuses on simple linear equations and their solutions using Vedic Math Sutras. The video is for students in class nine and above. In this video, we will be understanding the second meaning of the sutra Shunya Samyasaamuchhye. The name of the sutra used is “Shunya Samyasaamuchhye” - शून्य साम्यसमुच्चये. Here, ‘saamuchhye’ (समुच्चये) means the product of independent terms when they are same.

Here, we find the product of the independent terms present on both the left hand side and right hand side. If, the product on both the sides are equal then, we can put the ‘saamuchhye’ (समुच्चये) as zero.

Example

Solve: (x - 6)(x - 8) = (x - 3)(x - 16)

Answer:

(-6) x ( -8) = 48 

(-3) x (-16) = 48

I.e., 48 = 48

Hence, x = 0
