Vedic Maths: Algebra in Simultaneous Linear Equations

This video of Vedic Math focuses on finding the solution of simultaneous linear equations using Vedic Math Sutras. The video is for students in class nine and above. In this video, we will be learning a method to find the solution of simultaneous linear equations using the sutra Paravartya Yojyet i.e. Transpose and Apply.

Let the equations be a1x + b1y = c1 and a2x + b2y = c2 .

Now, the values of “x” and “y” would be of the form:

• x = Numerator of x / (Denominator of x)
• y = numerator of y / (denominator of y)

And, these values can be calculated using the following formula:

• Numerator of ‘x’  b1c2 - b2c1 (Ignore the coefficients of x)
• Numerator of ‘y’ =  c1a2 - c2a1 (Ignore the coefficients of y)
• Denominator of ‘x’ or ‘y’ = a2b1 - b2a1 (this is because simultaneous equations are cyclic in nature, remember that this is taken in reverse order)
