Vedic Maths: Advantages of Doubling Technique
About the video
In the previous video titled, Multiplication - Doubling Technique, we discussed the two groups in which numbers from 0 to 9 are divided. In this video we will be discussing the practical application and advantages of the Doubling Technique. There are four advantages of Doubling Technique.
- You can multiply any given number ‘x’ with 2. Under this method, we start from the left and move towards the right. We double the first digit and check whether the next digit belongs to group I or group II. If the next right digit belongs to group I, write the double as it is, but, if it belongs to group II then add 1 to the double and write the ending digit in your answer. We then follow the above steps until you reach the rightmost digit.
- The second advantage is that it allows us to divide any number ‘x’ by 5, 50, 500 and so on. Under this, we start by doubling the number ‘x’. After getting the answer, just add a decimal after one digit from right. (for dividing by 5).
- Thirdly, we can multiply any given number ‘x’ with 4.
- Lastly, any number ‘x’ can be divided by 25. We double the number twice and put the decimal after 2 digits from right. Kids from class V onwards can easily understand this. Stay tuned for more!
