Tips and strategies for answering PART 1 of IELTS Speaking In this video, you’ll get to learn some tips and strategies about the IELTS Speaking Part. For IELTS speaking part 1, the examiner will introduce him or herself and ask you general questions about common topics such as home, family, work, studies, and your interests. Part 1 lasts for about 4-5 minutes and the examiner asks questions on common topics such as home, family, work, studies, and your interests. Some sample topics can be - Let’s talk about your home town or village, Let’s move on to talk about accommodation etc.
There are Basic Strategies for IELTS Speaking Part 1:
Focus on Fluency: Don’t hesitate.
Be Short and Simple: Don’t give long, detailed answers.
Complete Your Sentences: Say your answer and then end your sentence with confidence.
Be Confident: Even though your body language is not scored, your posture and even your facial expression can affect how you speak. Sit up straight but comfortable, smile, and make good eye contact.
Relax and get comfortable: Part 1 is a warmup and is not where your main score will be decided. Use it as a chance to get comfortable speaking with your examiner.
The questions are designed so that the candidate can begin to show his or her language skills when talking on familiar topics in the four areas the examiner is assessing. Fluency, Vocabulary, Grammar and Pronunciation/Intonation.
