The IELTS Academic Reading test is designed to access a wide range of skills related to reading such as your ability to follow an argument, identifying writer’s opinion or purpose. You should be able to understand the main ideas, opinions, intended meanings and locate information in the passage. The skills of Skimming, Scanning and Paraphrasing are very crucial for scoring high in the IELTS Reading Test. 

The IELTS Academic Reading test consists of 3 long texts which are extracted from current books, newspapers, journals and magazines. The texts are academic in nature which means they are related to topics you might face if you were to study at an undergraduate or postgraduate level or apply for professional registration in an English-speaking environment. 

You are required to answer 40 questions in the IETLS Academic Reading test. You can get different types of questions in the test which can range from multiple choice to identifying information or a writer’s view, matching headings, features and sentence endings, as well as sentence, note, summary, table and flow-chart completions, and short-answer questions. Our expert instructor advises to get into the habit of reading before going to sleep to score high in the Reading section of the IETLS test.
