IELTS Listening: Sample Question Practice

The IELTS Listening test is same for both Academic and General Training Students. It is also marked the same way. There are 4 sections in which you have to attempt a total of 40 questions. The sections get more difficult as the test progresses which means section 1 is the easiest whereas section 4 is the toughest. The listening test lasts for 40 minutes. You get 30 minutes to listen to the recording and write down your answers on the question paper. The additional 10 minutes are to transfer your answers from the question paper to the answer sheet. 

Remember, the recording will be played only once. You will not hear it a second time. The good news is there is no negative marking. You don’t lose a mark if your answer is wrong. You can write your responses in capital letters or lower-case letters. It’s entirely your choice. But our recommendation is to use all capital letters as it is easier to read and avoid mistakes.
