For the General Training Paper in IELTS, you are required to write a letter of over 150 words in 20 mins for writing task 1. A semiformal letter is a letter to someone you know about something formal, like an invitation or an explanation about something. That someone could be your teacher, accountant, landlord, etc.
This means it’s to someone you know informally about something formal. The candidates must pay attention to opening lines, closing statements, paragraphs’ etc. This task is worth only 33% of your writing marks.
