I love reading fiction novels whenever I am at a library because that is where you get complete silence and it’s a great chance to read something creative and full of imaginative ideas.

Well, if I am not reading in the library, I just check out the new addition of books and explore other genres which I would like to read in the future.

Question 3: IELTS Speaking Questions on Childhood

Part 1

  • Did you do puzzles in your childhood?

As a child, I loved to solve puzzles in my free time. There used to be a number of puzzles in my activity books or even newspapers. To the best of my recollection, there was one specific puzzle that I liked the most where you had to connect the dots with the numbers.

  • When do you do puzzles, during trips, or when you feel bored?

I usually solve puzzles when I feel bored. Sometimes I like to solve puzzles that require finding words from a crossword or filling up numbers in sudoku.

  • Do you like doing word puzzles or number puzzles? Which is more difficult for you?

I think both are equally difficult as they challenge you in different ways. In word puzzles, it’s confusing as you have many extra words which can confuse one. On the other hand, number puzzles do require the skill of quick maths.

  • Do you think it is suitable for older people to do puzzles?

Definitely, I think it’s a great pass time activity for old people and one of the best ways to have fun as well. It not only keeps them busy but also helps them be in touch with daily brainstorming tasks.

Part 2

Describe your favorite childhood friend. You should say:

  • Who he/she is
  • Where you met each other
  • What you often did together
  • and explain what made you like him/her.

We make a lot of friends throughout our life, but we cherish our childhood friends the most. My best friend from childhood is Sunayna Sharma; we met each other in the third standard when she shifted to our school. We not only became good friends but also became best friends subsequently. Being good friends in our school days, we used to sit together in all of the classes. Also, we used to play many silly games and giggle all the time at lame jokes as we all do when we are school kids. Moreover, we used to participate in different extracurricular activities. She took part in singing and me, in theatre. We used to spend a lot of time together at various events too. For instance, whenever there was a talent hunt, annual function, sports day, prize distribution function, etc., we used to spend all our day together at these events and enjoy ourselves. When we grew up, we chose different subjects in the 11th standard, but we still managed to spend time together by taking a stroll in the morning before our classes started or by having lunch together in the playground. I cherish our friendship so much because we went through all the stages of life together and we had a whale of a time with each other. Moreover, when you have a companion in your childhood, who continues to be your close pal even as an adult, it is the greatest feeling of all. In addition to this, we both understand each other very well and have the same values in life, which makes our bond even stronger. Even today, whenever we catch up, we talk about the utterly silly things we did when we were young. To encapsulate, she is the one friend with whom I can share all my happy moments and my troubles. Life is full of ups and downs but when you have a good friend with you, it makes it worth the while.

Part 3

  • Do you still keep in touch with your friends from childhood? Why?

To be honest, I am not in touch with all of my childhood friends, but only with some of them as, over a period of time, you lose touch with your school friends since we opt for different streams of higher education. In some cases, some of the childhood friends part ways and travel to different states or even different countries to pursue their further studies. However, there are one or two friends who are in touch with me to the present date and it’s really nice to know what all of them are up to, even after so many years.

  • How does modern technology influence friendship?

With the advent of technology, maintaining friendships has become really easy as we can get in touch with our friends in a blink of an eye. For instance, with the use of different social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp, we can text all of our friends and even make audio or video calls to talk to them. Moreover, these platforms have brought people closer to one another as, no matter where the person is residing, with modern technology, we can chat with them as if they are right next to us.

  • How important is childhood friendship to children?

Childhood friends play a crucial role in the upbringing of a child as they deeply impact how they spend their childhood. Having a good childhood friend helps one share good moments and enjoy the innocence of childhood. Along with it, children develop certain values as well such as talking politely, helping each other, understanding the feelings of your friend, etc. I believe that childhood friendships offer sweet memories to children that they can look back to and cherish.

  • What do you think of online social media?

In my opinion, social media is both a boon as well as a bane. On the one hand, it offers us a platform where we can connect with millions of people and exhibit our point of view to the world. Moreover, it connects us with our near and dear ones in times of need. On the other hand, social media has ample drawbacks too. It is not only a cause for students being unproductive but also contributes to employees wasting time on a daily basis.
I believe it comes down to how each individual uses social media.

  • Do you think online social media will replace face-to-face communication?

In my view, social media can never replace the physical meet-and-greet tradition as it can only simulate reality. Furthermore, to build friendships, it is essential to meet the person face to face and have a real talk. It also helps to get to know the person better as compared to just having an online conversation with an individual. For instance, you can never see the facial expressions of the person when you are talking to them over a call.

  • Why do people lose contact with their friends after graduation?

Well, there are numerous reasons for losing touch with people after graduation. Firstly, some students might opt for a master's in a different college or university. Secondly, some decide to start a new job or their own business to excel in their life. Lastly, some students might relocate to any other city or country to find their life purpose. All of these instances result in losing touch with one another as we grow up.

Question 4: IELTS Speaking Questions on Beauty

Part 2

Describe an object that you think is beautiful. You should say:

  • What it is
  • Where you saw it
  • What it looks like
  • and explain why you think it is beautiful.

From time to time, we come across a plethora of objects that we admire. Similarly, I saw an object recently, which was really adorable. It was a handmade basket made of jute. I saw this basket when I was at the international handicraft fest in Faridabad. I went there last week with my cousins. There were a number of stalls and each of them displayed numerous items. An item that I was struck in awe with was this jute basket. It was a medium size basket that anyone could use to store their day-to-day amenities. It was white in colour and consisted of thousands of strands of jute with which it was made. When I looked closely, I could see how precisely the knitting of this jute basket had been done. Moreover, it had impressions of beautiful flowers and leaves on it. There were impressions of rose petals and leaves on the bottom of this bag, which made it extremely attractive and eye-catching. Additionally, it had a special grip on the top which enabled one to even carry the basket. When I looked at it, I decided in a blink of an eye that I was going to buy this basket. Unfortunately, it was quite expensive and hence, I eventually did not. It would have cost me an arm and a leg, to be honest. That’s why I decided against buying this object. The reason why I think this bag was absolutely beautiful was that it had an utterly clean look. For instance, one could touch it and know how softly the material had been knit for this specific basket. Moreover, it seemed pretty sturdy and therefore apt for daily use.
To conclude, this was the object which I think was really stunning and one of a kind and I would like to buy it someday as well.

Part 3

  • What does human beauty mean to you?

Well, when it comes to the term beauty, the first impression that comes to my mind is how a person looks and how they dress. Certainly, this is the first impression of beauty, not the final one. Once you get to know the person, the definition of beauty changes. Everyone has a different set of qualities, which can be regarded as beauty. For instance, one definition of beauty can be when one has a positive mindset and speech whereas other forms of beauty can be the way people express themselves such as by singing, dancing, etc. In a nutshell, the definition of beauty might be different for different people.

  • Do you think the idea of human beauty now differs from the past?

As time has passed by, the understanding of beauty has also changed to a great extent. Earlier, people used to perceive beauty by just judging the looks of a person. We can even regard it as outer beauty. But now, people delve more deeply into the personality and mindset of people and regard that as a measure of beauty. In my opinion, it’s the behaviour of someone that should be regarded as the true reflection of beauty.

  • Do you think there are more beautiful things now than in the past? Why?

I believe that the world is full of adorable things no matter the time period. In the past as well as in the present time, we can see tons of admirable things around us. The type of things might differ in the modern era as compared to the past but glorious items were there in ancient times and can be seen today as well.

  • What beautiful scenery spots are there in your country?

There are various tourist attractions in my country which are absolutely stunning and have breathtaking views. For instance, there are plenty of hill stations in north India such as Shimla, Dalhousie, Khajjiar, etc. where one can view the scenic beauty of hills and mountains. In addition to this, there are a lot of beach hub spots in south India as well.

  • Where do you think people usually come into contact with beautiful things?

I believe that people can come in contact with beautiful objects whenever they are out somewhere. For instance, it is possible even when one has gone out shopping, that one might find beautiful artistic objects. Likewise, when one is travelling to any other state or country, one might get to see various objects which are appealing.

  • Why do you think people create beautiful things?

People create alluring things in order to express themselves through art. This can be both for their professional use and personal accomplishments, which they need to do on a daily basis. It has 4 floors with 20 outlets on each floor along with a food court which takes up half of the space of the 4th floor. I was actually surprised and amazed to see such an elegant structure with great connectivity and a structured layout of the escalators. I went through a bunch of showrooms of my favourite brands such as H&M, Zara, and Aldo, did a bit of shopping, and had a whale of a time. In my view, this shopping complex is absolutely a marvelous initiation as it lies in the heart of the city and will therefore be easily accessible to residents of all the areas in the city. In addition, it has a drive-through food court too, which houses some of the best outlets for picking up food on your way to work or while travelling. For instance, there are on-the-go takeout outlets for Starbucks, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc. To conclude, this complex provides numerous opportunities for people to explore different brands and can be a fun weekend getaway for shopping. On top of that, I believe it has offered numerous employment opportunities to the local people.

I heard about it at work when I had to use it to analyze a sample article. As a part of my job, I have to use this website daily. It has a plethora of features that are extremely amazing. Firstly, it helps you to check whether the content has been plagiarised. Also, it generates a report which we can download in the form of a pdf. Secondly, it has a text converter feature, which converts the upper-case text to lowercase and vice versa. Thirdly, it offers a paraphrasing feature, which rewrites the sentences in a new way and can be used to create subheadings or short descriptions for the content. However, one of the drawbacks of the free version is that you can analyze only a thousand words at a time; if one wants to analyze more than 1000 words, then one needs to purchase the pro version. I often visit the website to use all of these features to proofread blogs and articles. In addition, I use the spell checker and paraphrasing tool to make some final edits too. A fascinating feature of this website is that it generates the result in the blink of an eye.
