Question: In this generation, society politeness is decreasing day by day. 

What is your opinion?

Answer:

The harsh reality about the current generation is lack of politeness, despite the advancements in the society. I agree with the same as I feel people these days are more discourteous than in the past, and the same is clearly reflected in their actions and behaviours.

First and foremost, adoption of western culture at both personal and professional fronts has made people more casual. Hence, arguing with elders at home and seniors at work is a common sight. Moreover, they even pick on others or gossip just for humour and cause them discomfort. Also, assertion has replaced aggression, as people tend to cross their boundaries and become disrespectful and even hostile while proving their point.  This was not the case in the earlier times, when they would easily manage conflicts amicably without hurting the sentiments of others. 

Secondly, a majority of individuals in modern society have become more goal-oriented and selfish these days. They do not feel the need for support and respect within the family especially towards elders. Unfortunately, disintegration of the joint family system into small nuclear families is the current norm. Parents have no time for children and children in turn do not respect as it used to be when grandparents used to teach the values of kindness and politeness. People live only for themselves and do not care about others and have lost empathy and sensitivity for other individuals. 

Thus, it can be concluded that individuals are becoming less civil and arrogant these days as they tend to be more informal, impatient and less empathetic towards others in comparison to the earlier times.
