PART 2
Describe a website that you bought something from.
You should say:
- what the website is
- what you bought from this website
- how satisfied you were with what you bought
- and explain what you liked or disliked about using this website.
There are undoubtedly many modern e-commerce websites online, but selecting one can be a challenge because we can never be sure if they are truly dependable or trustworthy—unless, of course, we are talking about amazon.com.
Now, I believe that very few people who use the internet to make purchases are unaware of the Amazon eCommerce website. However, it bears repeating that the largest online retailer in the world, the maker of electronic book readers, and the web service provider are what have come to represent the electronic commerce sector globally.
Amazon.com, which was established in 1994, has genuinely transformed how commerce is conducted online by utilizing the newest technologies to the fullest extent feasible. And I was reminded of this when I just went to their website to purchase an ebook reader for my cousin, who is 14 years old
By the way, I purchased an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, which is definitely the best option for all types of customers. Despite the fact that this sleek 6-inch tablet has 8 GB of storage and it didn't even cost me that much money.
I didn't have to look elsewhere for what I was specifically looking for. The nicest part, though, was that I probably only needed 5 to 7 minutes to complete the entire process of looking for and purchasing my e-book reader.
The fact that Amazon.com truly enables its users to customize and filter the product information depending on their tastes and interests is something I really enjoyed about the website. And the way the website organized its navigational features really really impressed me. In particular, for such a big online retailer, it was constructed and designed in a way that makes it simple so that customers won't feel lost when looking for their products.
PART 3
What kinds of things do people in your country often buy from online shops?
It is no surprise that many individuals in my nation are taking advantage of online shopping, especially during this pandemic, by ordering meals, medications, and everyday household goods. This is due to the growing popularity of online shopping among all types of consumers. In addition to these items, individuals use online stores to purchase laptops, mobile/smartphones, apparel, cosmetics, perfumes, home appliances, watches, clothing, and other stylish items ranging from sunglasses to watches.
Why do you think online shopping has become so popular nowadays?
Online shopping has grown in popularity across the globe in recent years for a number of reasons. Our time and energy are saved because we don't have to go to a physical store, deal with the crowds, or stand in lines to make purchases, which is the main benefit. Another benefit is that it provides a variety of options for selecting a product and for comparing prices before making a purchase. Online shopping has been very common in recent years due to a number of factors, including the recent Covid-19 Virus and the concern for contracting it when going outdoors to purchase.
What are some possible disadvantages of buying things from online shops?
A number of drawbacks exist when purchasing products from online retailers. The biggest one is definitely "delivery," as this occurs frequently, and even when it does, the product or the packaging containing the product is often damaged. Of course, the product's price is also a problem because it increases when the shipping fee is included. As the supplied goods may be of worse quality than those displayed on the websites, there is also a danger of being duped.
Why do many people today keep buying things which they do not need?
In my opinion, people like to give many explanations for the culture of consumerism
Let's face it, marketing influences us all. Advertising not only helps us remember and identify businesses more easily, but it also uses our emotions to influence our choices and attitudes toward items. With our possessions, we then strive to impress others or feel more important in front of them. And finally, despite what we might like to think, we are generally more receptive to the media's catchy themes and commercials.
Do you believe the benefits of a consumer society outweigh the disadvantages?
I regret to say that I do not see any advantages to it. People are manipulated into making needless purchases by consumerism, which increases their desire. More importantly, it results in overproduction, which is the main reason why natural resources are depleted and there is an increasing amount of toxic waste.
How possible is it to avoid the culture of consumerism?
In my honest opinion, because we are so accustomed to luxury and comfort, it is practically impossible to avoid the culture of consumerism in this era of global trade and commerce. After all, the culture of consumerism primarily serves as a motivator for us to live more productive lives, which in turn ensures that people have access to food on their tables, homes to live in, and clothing to wear. To survive in this world, we need to have some sort of genuine optimism, and consumerism culture provides that.
