You should say:
- What business/company it is
- What this business does
- How you know about this business
and explain why you think this business/company is successful.
Answer
I have always heard about a lot of business owners who started their companies at a small scale first, but eventually became huge success stories. Setting up a business requires a lot of hard work, perseverance and dedication. Sometimes people devote their entire lives towards running their businesses.
I would like to share a similar story with you today. I am going to talk about my aunt who is now an owner of a very famous home bakery in my city. As she belongs to a very traditional family, she learned how to bake at a very early age, which in time became her favourite hobby. and she finally decided to set up her own bakery which she always dreamt of.
She immediately discussed her idea with her husband and started advertising her products by sending small samples of sweets to her friends and family. I also happened to receive the package and it was absolutely delicious. As soon as she got a positive response, she made a small investment and set up a little shop called ‘ATALI BAKES’ in her locality.
Her products were unique because all the ingredients she used were organic. People loved the idea of it, and it definitely raised the bar. Like every other startup, she also struggled a bit initially in order to get customers but I admired her confidence as she continued to work hard no matter what. But in the end she started getting more and more orders and a lot of good reviews.
Over the years she expanded her business and employed photographers and hired a marketing marketing team to take her business to the next level. I think it is admirable how she managed to build such a successful and long lasting business. It is not a surprise that she is now planning to open a third branch in the same city!
Being a mother of 2, I am sure she went through a lot of tough times but her resilience and determination has really paid off. Looking at her journey has always encouraged me in several ways.
IELTS Speaking Part 3 Questions
Q. What is required to make a company successful?
In my perspective, to succeed in business today, you need to be flexible and have good planning and organisational skills. Probably a lot of factors contribute to a firm being successful and lasting. Serving their customers' needs, though, comes first. Knowing what to sell and being in the right market can make all the difference.
The most obvious element is probably a decent business plan. Being in the correct market and knowing what to sell can make a huge difference. I have seen many people launch their businesses, selling products and services that nobody actually wants, which has resulted in the failure of those firms.
Q. What qualities do successful business people have?
Business is an art, and not everyone knows to master this art. Some people have the inborn qualities to be a successful entrepreneur, and others work to develop these qualities.According to me, the first and foremost quality of a successful entrepreneur is passion. No one can achieve anything if they do not have the passion for reaching that goal.
Also, persistence is the most basic and essential quality of a successful entrepreneur because even good entrepreneurs experience failures and hurdles. But with persistence, you’re able to pick yourself back up and keep moving towards your goal.
Q. Which emerging industries do you know about?
There are a few I’ve read about online. One of the fastest growing industries, driverless cars—automated cars that can drive themselves—are being developed for both private use by companies such as Tesla and Apple. I think the electric vehicle industry is particularly booming because it’s fashionable to own an electric car. They’re somewhat of a status symbol. Also, More and more people are now concerned about the environmental impact traditional gasoline-powered cars have, which helps the new innovations become more and more prevalent.
Q. What do you think of charitable organisations?
I think when people come together, they can make a big impact. Today, you can find charities for countless causes focusing on health, culture, education, the environment, jobs, and more. I think charities help in lots of different ways, but the main ways are by providing direct help, giving information, or raising awareness of an issue. I have come across a Lot of charitable organisations that do a mix of these things. I still clearly recall how, during the Covid 19 pandemic, every charity organisation made a significant donation to those in need and supplied all the amenities—including food and shelter—to make their lives easier, which in my opinion, made a lot of difference.
Q. What kind of small businesses are most popular?
I think almost all kinds of small businesses are popular, such as clothes, toys, the food industry and many more.
However, the food industry has always been a prime target for small business owners. Not only are there so many different aspects of the food industry (cafes, food trucks, catering, bakeries, etc.), but they are some of the most profitable types of industries as well.
Along with that, the demand for online education has opened up possibilities for entrepreneurs as well. Tutoring students online is a great business idea that does not demand high investments.
Q. Should companies promote competition and why?
Definitely. In my perspective, one of the major benefits of competition is that it makes customers positive towards buying a product. It makes them positive because they feel good being treated nice, being served well. And, you as a company will treat your customers nice, because otherwise they will go straight to the competitor.
When firms have to compete for customers, it leads to lower prices, higher quality goods and services, greater variety, and more innovation, which I think is very essential.
