Can you describe your hometown?

My hometown is New Delhi, the capital of India. It’s a city that beautifully blends the old with the new, offering a rich mix of history, culture, and modernity. On the one hand, we have historical landmarks like the Red Fort, India Gate, and Humayun’s Tomb, which showcase Delhi’s rich past. On the other hand, there are modern skyscrapers, shopping malls, and an extensive metro system that represent its rapid development.

What do you like most about your hometown?

What I love most about New Delhi is its efficient metro system, which makes traveling across the city quick and convenient. It connects almost every major area, significantly reducing traffic hassles. I also enjoy the variety of food the city offers, from delicious street snacks like chaat to fine dining options. The blend of convenience and flavors is what makes the city so exciting.

Is there a famous street in your hometown?

Yes, Chandni Chowk is one of the most famous streets in New Delhi. It is a bustling shopping hub, known for its traditional clothes, jewelry, and fabrics at economical prices. The street is also a paradise for food lovers, offering authentic delicacies from the Mughal era as well as continental cuisine. Its vibrant atmosphere and rich history make it truly special.

What is it famous for?

Chandni Chowk is famous for shopping for traditional wear, especially for weddings, along with jewelry. It is also home to the iconic Red Fort, a magnificent Mughal-era structure built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site served as the main residence of Mughal emperors and remains a symbol of India's rich history and independence.

How easy is it to meet new people in your hometown?

Meeting new people in New Delhi is quite easy because it is a lively and diverse city. Public places like markets, metro stations, and cafés are always bustling with people, making interactions easy. Delhiites are generally friendly and social, and events like festivals, cultural programs, and food markets provide great opportunities to connect with new people.

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Why or why not?

Yes, I enjoy meeting new people because I'm someone who thrives on social interactions. Loneliness would really get to me, and meeting new people gives me the chance to expand my circle of friends. I find it energizing to connect with different personalities and learn new things from them.

Have you made a new friend recently?

Yes, I have made a new friend recently. We met at a social event, and our shared interests in health and wellness really helped us connect. It's always exciting to meet someone new who shares similar values, and I'm looking forward to building a deeper friendship with him over time.

How do people in your hometown usually cross the roads?

In New Delhi, people usually cross roads using zebra crossings, underground subways, and overhead bridges. The city has excellent infrastructure, and these pedestrian facilities make it safer and easier to navigate busy streets. While zebra crossings are common near traffic signals, underground subways and overhead bridges are especially useful in areas with heavy traffic, ensuring a smoother and safer crossing experience.

Do you think road safety is a problem in your area?

Yes and no. Road safety becomes a problem when people don’t adhere to traffic rules, such as jumping red lights or not using pedestrian crossings. However, as I said earlier,  the government has provided good facilities like zebra crossings, underground subways, and overhead bridges, which help improve safety. If everyone follows the rules, the roads can be much safer for everyone.
