7 October 2023 IELTS Formal Letter to seek a replacement for a defective product

This IELTS General Training Question Appeared on 7 October 2023 in India.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to notify you about the malfunctioning of the washing machine that I purchased from your showroom last week.

It is an IFB 8 kg 2x Steam Cycle Fully Automatic Front Load washing machine (Senator Plus VXS 8012). Initially, after your representative installed it and gave me a demonstration, it was working fine. However, when I used it the next time, I noticed that some functions were not being performed by the machine.

On checking, I realised that the washing machine is defective as its drain pipe is damaged due to which its dryer is not able to function at all. This is creating problems as the clothes are not getting wrung properly. I mainly need this functionality as I cannot lay the clothes out under the sun for drying.

Even though I registered my complaint at your centre three days back, I have not yet received any feasible solution due to which I am writing to you. I would appreciate it if you could take appropriate action and replace the product immediately.

I am looking forward to a quick resolution to my complaint.
