Answer:

From time to time, we receive plenty of things as kind gestures or gifts from our near and dear ones. In fact, very recently, I received an expensive bag. I got it from my mom when I visited my hometown last month. A couple of months back, my mom and dad went on a vacation to rejuvenate themselves and they brought back souvenirs for everyone. I was like a dog with two tails when she gave me the bag as it made me feel so special and valued. I immediately pulled it out of the box, unpacked it, and unwrapped the bubble wrap as I was so excited. It’s an off-white bag with a golden strap on the sides and has different compartments inside it to fit different things. It comes with a small wallet where one can place one’s cards and keep money. It also has a broad strap which makes it easier to carry and doesn’t hurt my shoulders. I was glad to receive this bag as I had been wanting to buy a bag for my office use. Also, it is a spacious bag that accommodates all of my necessary items. For instance, I can carry my laptop, iPad, notebook, and water bottle in it. It’s a perfect fit for my daily routine. I thanked my mom for giving me such a beautiful bag which is just as per my liking and taste. I felt so elated as it was such a thoughtful gift from her side. I thanked her and then we started to talk more about their recent trip. Overall, this allowed me a chance to appreciate my family for always thinking about me and giving me precious items throughout my life.

• When do people usually send gifts to others?

People tend to occasionally send gifts to one another. Sometimes it can be on special occasions whereas, at other times, it can be out of the blue, just to appreciate the person that they have in their life. For instance, people tend to send a gift on birthdays, anniversaries, farewells, etc. to cheer up the person on their special occasion. Apart from this, people tend to celebrate the existence of special people in their lives by giving them gifts. These gifts are most of the time given to loved ones, teachers, mentors, siblings, etc

• Do people give gifts at traditional festivals?

Certainly, people give tons of presents to their family and friends at traditional festivals. It’s actually an old tradition to exchange gifts at festivals in order to appreciate each other. For instance, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, everyone exchanges gifts such as sweets, chocolates, household items, and much more. Moreover, exchanging gifts during festivities brings families closer to each other and allows them to spend quality time with their loved ones in the process.

• Is it hard to choose a gift?

Well, it depends on whom you are finding a gift for. If you know the person extremely well, then you won’t face much difficulty in finding a perfect gift for them. On the other hand, if you don't know much about a person’s likes and dislikes, then it can be a Herculean task to find a suitable present for them. Moreover, with the advancement of technology, we can use online shopping to browse through as many things as we want to and then make the final call. So, I guess it mainly depends on how well you are acquainted with the person.

• Will people be happy when they receive an expensive gift?

Certainly, people get elated when they receive an expensive gift. Although it is widely believed that it is the thought that counts, people tend to be surprised and amazed whenever they receive any pricey object. It can be primarily because one gets to think about the other person’s intention and how buying an expensive item would have cost them an arm and a leg. Hence, it makes people feel valued and appreciated whenever they get an expensive object.
