Question: The chart below shows the amount of energy generated from wind in four countries from 1985 to 2000. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant. 

Answer:

The given bar chart depicts information about wind power generated in India, Denmark, Germany and the US. The data is in megawatts for  1985, 1990, 1995 and 2000.

It is clear that Denmark showed the highest growth in energy sourced from the wind whereas, although the US was the largest producer of wind power in 1985, it showed the least growth over the 15-year period.

In 1985, at around 200 megawatts each, India and Denmark were the countries with the lowest generation of wind energy. However, by 1990, it had doubled to approximately 400 megawatts for both nations. By 2000, it had gone up to 1200 megawatts for India, which was 6 times what it was in 1985. Interestingly, in the year 2000,  with 1600 watts of wind energy, Denmark became the largest generator of wind power.   

In comparison, at 1200 megawatts, the US was the top producer of wind power in 1985, which peaked at 1600 watts in 1990. Subsequently, the production reduced marginally to touch around 1500 megawatts in 2000 when the US became the second largest producer of wind power. Comparatively, Germany started with just 400 megawatts in 1985, to rise steadily and reach around 900 watts by 2000.
