Part 2:
Talk about a family that you like (not your own family).
You should say:
- Where does the family live?
- Who are the members of the family?
- How do you know them?
- Explain why you like this family.
There are numerous instances where we feel connected to certain people. I too share such a connection with my best friend’s family. Her name is Sunayna and we have been best friends since third grade. Over the years, in our childhood, our bond got stronger and we got to know each other’s family as well. We live in the same city - Ludhiana and her folks live just 20 minutes away from my home. I have been well acquainted with her brother, father, and mother since childhood as I used to visit her house to work together on all sorts of school projects or sometimes, to rehearse our performance for the talent hunt.
Moreover, we invariably used to be at each other's houses on our birthdays as well. Her family is close to my heart because they are extremely open and welcoming. The love and care they bestow on me whenever I visit them warms my heart. For instance, they never treat me as an outsider but rather as their daughter. Sunayna and I are treated alike as if we are real sisters. Another thing that I like about her family is that they often lend a helping hand. As both my parents are working, they often drop me home if my parents are unavailable to pick me up.
Furthermore, her brother is a mathematics genius and he helps us both solve complex problems and understand critical concepts which we are always confused with. Lastly, I admire her dad a lot because he is caring and always creates a safe environment, enriched with comfort so that we don't have to face any sort of problems. I am utterly grateful that I have such a connection with not only my best friend but her family as well. It’s a bond that I will cherish throughout my life.
Part 3:
- What makes a good parent?
Numerous factors play a role in making one a good parent. Firstly, one should create a comfortable environment at home so that children don't feel hesitant to hold open conversations with their parents. Secondly, children are usually open-minded and have great ideas from time to time. Therefore, I believe parents should give their kids the freedom to act upon their creative ideas. Furthermore, a parent should trust their offspring when they are in critical situations and should have faith in their ability to manage the situations.
- Do you think it is easier today to raise children than it was in the past?
In my view, it’s relatively easier to raise children in today’s times as we have access to a wide range of resources and opportunities, which can benefit parents as well as children. For instance, with home-delivery apps, parents can order groceries, stationery, and hygiene products within minutes and they don't have to leave their babies alone to do so. Furthermore, if I talk about school-goers, with the help of numerous online platforms - parents can help children learn new things every day.
- Who is usually the head (the leader) of the family in your nation?
It is primarily believed by many that the male partner is the leader of the family in my nation, but with constant evolution in the realm of emotional intelligence, a lot of people share the common narrative that both the husband and wife are equal stakeholders when it comes to making critical decisions in the household. I agree with the same outlook that both possess the ability and have the right to lead their family.
- What would you say is the effect of media such as TV, radio, and newspapers on families?
In my view, the electronic and print media possess several benefits for family members. They are not only a good source of information for all age groups but also a great source of entertainment. For instance, when we consider television, it has hundreds of channels, which tend to fulfill the needs of all age groups, whether it’s a child, an adult, or an elderly family member. Also, exposure to media helps one develop one’s knowledge, skills, and habits.
- Are grandparents considered important members of the family in your country today?
Without a doubt, grandparents are considered an integral part of Indian families as they are the ones who pass on their years and years of experience and wisdom to their children as well as grandchildren. In addition, grandparents tend to spend a lot of quality time with their grandchildren and help them learn good morals and values, which stay with them throughout their lives. A family that includes grandparents tends to be more connected and unified in my nation.
