Overall, Luxembourg offered the highest maximum salary, while Australia had the lowest. The time required to reach the top salary varied across countries, with Denmark and Australia having shorter durations compared to Korea, which took the longest.
Luxembourgers enjoyed the highest starting salary at $80,000, surpassing even the maximum salaries in Australia ($48,000), Denmark ($54,000), and Japan ($62,400). However, the salary progression in Luxembourg, taking 30 years to reach $139,000, contrasts sharply with Australia and Denmark, where teachers reached their maximum salaries in relatively shorter periods of 9 years and 8 years, respectively.
On the other hand, both Korea and Japan started with lower salaries—$30,500 and $28,000, respectively. Interestingly, Korean teachers, despite their lower starting point, eventually reached a higher maximum salary than their Japanese counterparts. Korea required 37 years to reach $84,500, whereas Japan reached $62,400 in 34 years.
