Part 1:

  • The examiner asks you about your childhood.
  • Did you do puzzles in your childhood?
  • When do you do puzzles, during trips, or when you feel bored?
  • Do you like doing word puzzles or number puzzles? Which is more difficult for you?
  • Do you think it is suitable for older people to do puzzles?

Answers:

  • Did you do puzzles in your childhood?

As a child, I loved to solve puzzles in my free time. There used to be a number of  puzzles in my activity books or even newspapers. To the best of my recollection, there was one specific puzzle which I liked the most where you had to connect the dots with the numbers.

  • When do you do puzzles, during trips, or when you feel bored?

I usually solve puzzles when I feel bored. Sometimes I like to solve puzzles which require finding words from a crossword or filling up numbers in sudoku.

  • Do you like doing word puzzles or number puzzles? Which is more difficult for you?

I think both are equally difficult as they challenge you in different ways. In word puzzles, it’s confusing as you have many extra words which can confuse one. On the other hand, number puzzles do require the skill of quick maths.

  • Do you think it is suitable for older people to do puzzles?

Definitely, I think it’s a great pass time activity for old people and one of the best ways  to have fun as well. It not only keeps them busy but also helps them be in touch with daily brainstorming tasks.

Part 2:

Describe your favourite childhood friend.

You should say:

  • Who he/she is
  • Where you met each other
  • What you often did together
  • and explain what made you like him/her.

Answer :

We make a lot of friends throughout our life, but we cherish our childhood friends the most. My best friend from childhood is Sunayna Sharma; we met each other in the third standard when she shifted to our school. We not only became good friends but also became best friends subsequently. Being good friends in our school days, we used to sit together in all of the classes. Also, we used to play many silly games and giggle all the time at lame jokes as we all do when we are school kids. Moreover, we used to participate in different extracurricular activities. She took part in singing and me, in theatre. We used to spend a lot of time together at various events too. For instance, whenever there was a talent hunt, annual function, sports day, prize distribution function etc., we used to spend all our day together at these events and enjoy ourselves. When we grew up, we chose different subjects in the 11th standard, but we still managed to spend time together by taking a stroll in the morning before our classes started or by having lunch together in the playground. I cherish our friendship so much because we went through all the stages of life together and we had a whale of a time with each other. Moreover, when you have a companion in your childhood, who continues to be your close pal even as an adult, it is the greatest feeling of all. In addition to this, we both understand each other very well and have the same values in life, which makes our bond even stronger. Even today, whenever we catch up, we talk about the utterly silly things we did when we were young. To encapsulate, she is the one friend with whom I can share all my happy moments and my troubles. Life is full of ups and downs but when you have a good friend with you, it makes it worth the while.

Part 3:

  • Do you still keep in touch with your friends from childhood? Why?

To be honest, I am not in touch with all of my childhood friends, but only with some of them as, over a period of time, you lose touch with your school friends since we opt for different streams of higher education. In some cases, some of the childhood friends part ways and travel to different states or even different countries to pursue their further studies. However, there are one or two friends who are in touch with me to the present date and it’s really nice to know what all of them are upto, even  after so many years.

  • How does modern technology influence friendship?

With the advent of technology, maintaining friendships has become really easy as we can get in touch with our friends in a blink of an eye. For instance, with the use of different social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, we can text all of our friends and even make audio or video calls to talk to them. Moreover, these platforms have brought people closer to one another as, no matter where the person is residing, with modern technology, we can chat with them as if they are right next to us.

  • How important is childhood friendship to children?

Childhood friends play a crucial role in the upbringing of a child as they deeply impact how they spend their childhood. Having a good childhood friend helps one share good moments and enjoy the innocence of childhood. Along with it, children develop certain values as well such as talking politely, helping each other, understanding the feelings of your friend etc. I believe that childhood friendships offer sweet memories to children that they can look back to and cherish.

  • What do you think of online social media?

In my opinion, social media is both a boon as well as a bane. On the one hand, it offers us a platform where we can connect with millions of people and exhibit our point of view to the world. Moreover, it connects us with our near and dear ones in times of need. On the other hand, social media has ample drawbacks too. It is not only a cause for students being unproductive but also contributes to employees wasting time on a daily basis.
I believe it comes down to how each individual uses social media.

  • Do you think online social media will replace face-to-face communication?

In my view, social media can never replace the physical meet-and-greet tradition as it can only simulate reality. Furthermore, to build friendships, it is essential to meet the person face to face and have a real talk. It also helps to get to know the person better as compared to just having an online conversation with an individual. For instance, you can never see the facial expressions of the person when  you are talking to them over a call.

  • Why do people lose contact with their friends after graduation?

Well, there are numerous reasons for losing touch with people after graduation. Firstly, some students might opt for masters in a different college or university. Secondly, some decide to start a new job or their own business to excel in their life. Lastly, some students might relocate to any other city or country to find their life purpose. All of these instances result in losing touch with one another as we grow up.
