Part 1 (Interview)

Do you enjoy reading about history? Why or why not?

Absolutely not. In fact it was my last preferred subject. I found it overwhelming because of the exhaustive curriculum. The dates and events were beyond me, and I just could not remember them.

What can people learn from studying history?

History is the best source to get information about the past eras. It helps us understand the major events that may have occurred and how they affected the people involved. The learning from these events also paves the way for the present generations to move ahead with caution.

Do you think history should be a compulsory subject in school?

I absolutely am in favour of history being included in school curriculums because it teaches students of the past and how it has affected the present. For example, the excavations of Mohan jo Daro, tell us what a long way we have come. Were it not for the study of history, we would never have known about our ancestors.

What kind of books or materials do you use to learn about history?

When I was in school, I just used my textbooks. As I was not very fond of this subject, I never bothered to explore it any further than the material available. Now, I sometimes use the internet to research on some topics that interest me.

What were your favorite pastime activities during childhood?

Playing badminton was one of my favorite childhood activities, apart from cycling. I enjoyed the energy and excitement of the game, and cycling gave me a sense of freedom and adventure.

Did you prefer indoor or outdoor activities as a child? Why?

Both! It depended on my mood and the weather outside. On pleasant days, I loved outdoor activities like cycling and playing badminton, as they were fun and kept me active. However, on rainy or extremely hot days, I enjoyed indoor activities.

Have your hobbies changed since childhood? If so, how?

Growing older is not easy, as life gets busier with many responsibilities. I hardly find time for what I used to love doing as a child.  them now. Instead, yoga has become my new passion. It not only keeps me physically active but also provides peace of mind.

Do you think children today have different hobbies compared to when you were young?

Yes, children's hobbies today are quite different from those of my childhood. They are more into virtual games and spend a lot of time on mobile phones, tablets, and gaming consoles. I don’t think they may have ever heard of the outdoor games that people of my generation played.
