About the article

Part 2:

Talk about something that was broken in your home and then you got it repaired.

You should say:

  • What is it?
  • How was it broken?
  • How did you get it repaired?

One item in my home that needed repair was our old wooden dining table. It had been a cherished piece of furniture for years, but over time, wear and tear had taken its toll, leading to a loose leg and several scratches on the surface.

The table had been damaged due to regular use and occasional mishaps like accidentally placing hot dishes directly on the wood, causing minor burns and discoloration. Additionally, the constant shifting of the table during cleaning had loosened one of the legs, making it unstable and wobbly.

To get it repaired, we decided to consult a professional furniture repair service recommended by a friend. Their skilled craftsmen assessed the damage and proposed a plan to restore the table to its former glory. They carefully reattached the loose leg, reinforced it with additional support, and sanded down the scratches on the surface.

The repair process involved meticulous attention to detail, with the craftsmen using specialised tools and techniques to ensure a seamless finish. They applied a fresh coat of varnish to protect the wood and enhance its natural beauty, giving the table a renewed lustre.

After the repair, the dining table looked as good as new, with the scratches and wobbling eliminated. It was a satisfying feeling to see our beloved piece of furniture restored to its original condition, ready to serve as the centrepiece of family gatherings and meals, once again.

The experience taught us the importance of regular maintenance and timely repairs to preserve the longevity of cherished household items. It also highlighted the value of professional craftsmanship in restoring and enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of our home furnishings.

Part 3:

  • Would you choose to repair things or buy a new one?

When it comes to repairing items or purchasing new ones, people's decisions, including mine, often hinge on various factors such as cost-effectiveness and sentimental value. For instance, I would opt to repair a beloved vintage watch that holds sentimental significance rather than replace it with a new one. On the other hand, for everyday items like kitchen appliances, the high cost of repair and the short life of the item after the repair may influence my decision to buy a new one instead.

  • Is the quality of products worse these days than before?

Opinions on product quality can vary, but I believe that advancements in technology and manufacturing processes have generally improved product quality over time. While some consumers believe that modern products offer improved features and durability, others feel that older products are more robust and long-lasting. However, factors like market competition, cost-cutting measures, and mass production can sometimes lead to compromises in quality. Consumers' experiences with products may also differ based on brands, price points, and specific product categories.

  • What kind of things do people like to fix themselves?

People often prefer to fix smaller items like clothing, household appliances, and electronic gadgets themselves. These are typically items that can be repaired with basic tools and knowledge, offering a sense of accomplishment and cost-saving benefits. People often enjoy repairing small household appliances like coffee makers or sewing machines to extend their lifespan and save on replacement costs. DIY repairs are popular for items with sentimental value or those that are relatively simple to fix, encouraging self-sufficiency and resourcefulness.

  • Why do people prefer to repair their mobile phones in specialised stores?

When it comes to mobile phone repairs, people often turn to specialised stores for professional assistance and genuine parts. These stores often have skilled technicians who can diagnose and fix complex issues accurately. Additionally, using authentic replacement parts ensures optimal performance and reduces the risk of further damage. Warranty coverage provides peace of mind and assurance of quality service, making specialised stores a preferred choice for mobile phone repairs.

  • When customers complain about products or services, does that help companies get better?

I believe customer complaints are invaluable feedback for companies to improve their products and services. For instance, if customers express dissatisfaction with a product's durability or a service's efficiency, addressing these issues can lead to quality enhancements and process improvements. Taking customer feedback seriously not only helps companies rectify existing issues but also fosters customer loyalty and trust.

  • How can the company maintain the quality of the service it provides to the population?

In my opinion, maintaining service quality requires companies to prioritise customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. For example, I think companies can conduct regular surveys or feedback sessions with customers to identify areas for enhancement. Training employees, implementing quality assurance measures, and leveraging technology for service innovations are also essential. By actively engaging with the population and addressing their needs, companies can sustain high-quality service delivery.
