Personally, I appreciate the spectacular cityscape visible from my high-rise apartment.

• Do you think there will be more high-rise buildings in the future?

Yes, it's likely that there will be more high-rise buildings in the future, especially in rapidly growing urban areas. The demand for space-efficient and sustainable living options, coupled with advancements in construction technology, makes high-rise developments a plausible trend. Recently, I read about innovative vertical farming integrated into high-rise designs, showcasing the potential for multifunctional urban spaces.

• Why are there few tall buildings in the countryside?

Tall buildings are scarce in the countryside primarily due to different lifestyle preferences and spatial requirements. Rural areas tend to prioritise expansive landscapes and detached housing, reflecting a preference for open spaces and a closer connection to nature. Visiting my maternal hometown is always a refreshing escape as my extended family cherishes the tranquillity of open spaces, relishing the expansive landscapes and the sense of serenity it brings.

• Why do some people today like to live in high-rise buildings?

Some people today prefer living in high-rise buildings for the urban lifestyle they offer. These structures are often located in the heart of bustling cities, providing easy access to work, entertainment, and cultural amenities. The allure of panoramic city views and the sense of community within vertical neighbourhoods contribute to the appeal of high-rise living.
