Part 1 Compliments

Do you like receiving compliments?
Yes, definitely. I think everyone enjoys being appreciated from time to time. To be honest, receiving a genuine compliment can make my day and boost my confidence. Moreover, it's always nice to know that my efforts haven't gone unnoticed. It feels like a pat on the back and motivates me to do even better.

When was the last time someone complimented you?
The last time was a few days ago when one of my students complimented me on my teaching style. In particular, they said that my explanations were easy to understand. As a result, I felt really pleased and encouraged. It was the icing on the cake after a busy day at work.

Do you often compliment other people?
Yes, I do. Whenever I notice someone's achievement or effort, I try to acknowledge it. For example, I often compliment my colleagues or students when they perform well. In addition, I believe kind words can go a long way in making people feel valued. After all, a little encouragement can work wonders.

Why do some people find it difficult to accept compliments?
I think some people struggle with self-confidence and find it hard to believe positive comments about themselves. On the other hand, some may feel embarrassed or think the compliment isn't genuine. As a result, they tend to brush it off. They often sell themselves short without even realising it.

Can compliments improve relationships?
Yes, absolutely. Compliments can strengthen relationships because they make people feel respected and appreciated. Furthermore, they help create a positive atmosphere and build trust between individuals. When people feel valued, they are more likely to maintain strong connections. In fact, compliments can help break the ice and bring people closer together.
