Question: It is impossible to help all people in the world, so governments should focus on people in their own countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree? 

Answer:

In the modern globalized world, it is contended that Governments should prioritize aid to their own citizens and assist them in their overall development rather than focus on extending help to people across the world. I completely agree with this viewpoint since not only is it their prime responsibility but such focused efforts in their own countries will also get better results and it will eventually result in global benefits as well.       

To begin with, it is the fundamental responsibility of every government to safeguard the well-being and interests of its own citizens. To illustrate, during the COVID-19 pandemic, countries that focused on their citizens' health and well-being by implementing strict lockdown measures and vaccine distribution plans were able to protect their populations effectively.  Neglecting this duty in favor of global assistance can lead to domestic unrest, which would ultimately hinder the government's ability to provide effective assistance internationally as well. 

Moreover, the resources available to governments are finite and limited. Attempting to assist all people worldwide would lead to a dispersion of resources that could result in inadequate support for domestic issues. For instance, this could have detrimental consequences for essential services such as healthcare, education, and social welfare, which are vital for the well-being and development of citizens. In fact, It is only when a government demonstrates its commitment to its citizens that it can effectively contribute to global efforts to alleviate poverty, conflict, and other global challenges. 

In conclusion, while the world faces many pressing global issues, governments must prioritize their own citizens' welfare because a strong and stable domestic foundation not only benefits the citizens but also enables governments to play a more effective and influential role on the global stage.
