Question: The pie chart and table below give information on tourists visiting Australia. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant. 

Answer: 

The pie chart illustrates the percentage distribution of tourists visiting Australia from different countries. The table depicts their duration of stay, preferred accommodation and main activities.

Overall, the majority of tourists originate from Europe and Asia. However, Americans stay the longest as compared to Asians who stay for the shortest duration.

It can be seen that the majority of tourists are from Asia [37%], followed by Europe, from where 35% of the visitors to Australia come. On the other hand, only a small proportion of tourists are Americans [18%] and the rest [10%] come from different parts of the world. 

The tourists from the US and Europe prefer to stay for longer durations, 16 and 14 days respectively, whereas the Asian tourists and those originating from the rest of the world prefer a short vacation [7 and 10 days respectively]. Tourists from Europe and Asia prefer to stay in luxurious hotels, whereas, others prefer campgrounds or caravan parks for their stay. Among recreational activities, sightseeing is preferred by tourists from Asia and Europe, whereas visitors from the USA and the rest of the world usually go for water activities [swimming, sunbathing and surfing].
