Question: Write a letter of grievance to your manager
Your company has recently introduced a new uniform for the staff. But you have learned that the staff members are not happy about it. Write a letter to your manager about it.
In your letter:
- Explain why you think the staff is not happy with the new uniform
- What you want the new uniform to be like
- And give some suggestions to handle the situation
Answer:
Dear Mr. Chandler, I am writing to bring to your attention the feedback we have received from the staff regarding the new uniform. Unfortunately, we understand that the staff is not satisfied with the new design. The prime reason for the staff’s discontent with the new uniform is that it is lacking in comfort when worn. Further, it has also been criticised by certain employees for not being appropriate for their job responsibilities. To address this issue, I suggest that we consider redesigning the uniform to make it more comfortable and practical for our staff. For instance, unlike our old uniform, the fabric should be sweat proof and we should add more pockets inside and outside the attire for holding tools. The more functional benefits that the new uniform has, the better will be its acceptability by our staff. Furthermore, we could involve the staff in the redesign process to get their input and ensure their satisfaction. This could also help improve morale and foster a sense of ownership and pride in them. I hope you will take this matter seriously and take appropriate action to address the concerns of our staff.
