Similar Sounding Words in English

There are many words in the English language which sound quite similar, but there are fine differences between them. In this session we deal with a few of these words. 

1. ANYWAY V/S ANYWAYS v/s ANY WAYS 

Anyway, in most of the cases it is used as an adverb and it means----in any case or regardless. 

Anyways, more or less also means the same, but it is more of a non-standard dialect or an informal version of the word. Educated speakers of English language and formal publications avoid usage of anyways. 

Any way, it is usually written as two separate words. It denotes pairing of an adjective and a noun and usually means, in any particular way or manner.

2. Its v/s It’s 

Very common usage, but still you will be surprised how frequently it is wrongly used by English language learners and the native speakers.

 They have the same pronunciation and the base pronoun--it, but they have diverse meanings. Its is a possessive case of pronoun and it shows possession or ownership-----Don’t judge a book by its cover. 

It’s---is a contraction for it is. It is a hot day. Or It’s a hot day (Both are correct)
