Why do people take photographs of special moments?

  • Do you prefer digital photos or printed ones?
  • How has photography changed with smartphones?
  • Are photos more important than memories themselves?

With almost every other person owning a smartphone, taking pictures of special moments has become quite the trend. Some do it to capture those significant events in life and create memories, which can be revisited when they feel nostalgic. Others do it out of peer pressure, to post on social media and let people know that they have an exciting life.

Although printed photographs have a charm of their own, I prefer digital ones as they don’t take up any physical space and can be easily accessed, wherever I am.

Smartphones have revolutionised photography in a big way. Irrespective of their technical photography skills, people can take excellent pictures with a smartphone that has a great camera. It has given birth to many amateur photographers as well.

However, many of us are so engrossed in clicking pics of special moments that we fail to enjoy the moment itself. Memories of such events are more important than the photos themselves. However, sometimes we get so caught up in taking pictures that we forget to actually enjoy the moment.
