Duolingo Read, Then Speak About a Time When You Felt Very Lucky

 Talk about a time when you felt very lucky. What happened? 

• Was it expected or a surprise?

One incident I vividly remember, where I felt extremely lucky, was when I managed to board a flight to Goa against all odds. This happened nearly ten years ago. I was on my way to the airport in Pune to catch a flight for a short holiday with close friends from Mumbai. While they were flying from Mumbai, I was to take a separate flight from Pune.

It was raining cats and dogs that day, and to make matters worse, my scheduled Uber ride didn’t show up. Luckily, my brother-in-law was nearby and kindly agreed to drop me at the airport. The traffic was backed up on every possible route, and I arrived just 10 minutes before the scheduled departure. I had almost given up hope of boarding and even asked my brother-in-law to wait, assuming I’d have to return with him.

However, to my pleasant surprise, the airline staff were still assisting delayed passengers since many were held up due to the rain. Thanks to their support, I made it onto the flight. Needless to say, I celebrated with my friends once I reached the resort in Goa!

I do believe in luck and consider myself quite blessed. It’s not always about big wins, but in small ways, luck seems to favour me. For instance, when I worked in the corporate sector and travelled frequently, I never missed a single flight, which, I feel, was largely due to luck. Fortune definitely smiles on me!
