However earlier this year, the growing tensions between the two countries had placed Indian nationals and their families in a precarious situation. While the situation is currently stable, it’s worth noting that India can suspend visa issuance for Canada at any time. Such a suspension would have a ripple effect, leading educational institutions to halt new applications to Canada. We sincerely hope that such a situation does not arise again. However, it’s also essential not to rely solely on one option. Therefore, students should also explore opportunities in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, or Germany.

The PSW, officially known as the ‘Graduate Immigration Route,’ represents a significant opportunity for international students, particularly those from India. This visa allows international students who have completed an undergraduate or Master’s degree at a qualifying UK institution to remain in the country for a fixed period of two years after finishing their studies, during which they can work or search for employment. For those pursuing a Ph.D. at a qualifying UK institution, the Post Study Work visa extends their stay for a fixed period of three years following the completion of their studies.

One of the notable advantages of this visa is that graduates under the Post Study Work visa do not require sponsorship from an educational institution or employer, nor do they need a Certificate of Sponsorship. Once graduates transition to the Post post-study work visa, they are no longer sponsored as students by their educational institution. This enables them to gain valuable work experience and earn income, alleviating the financial burden on their families in India and providing them with the means to invest in further education or other pursuits.

The credibility of UK degrees is further enhanced by the presence of four of the nation’s universities ranking in the global top ten, as per the QS World Rankings 2023. The QS World Universities ranking portfolio is the world’s most widely recognized source of comparative data on university performance.

The University of Cambridge holds the second position, the University of Oxford ranks fourth, Imperial College London secures the sixth spot, and University College London (UCL) stands at eighth place.

Study Visa and Work Visa in Australia: 

Australia has been gaining momentum as a study abroad destination. With a strong education system, a friendly atmosphere, and opportunities for part-time work during studies, it offers a holistic experience for international students. Australia also has favourable immigration policies for students aiming to settle in the country. Here are some benefits of pursuing Australia as a preferred study-abroad destination: 

1. Extended Work Limits in Australia for Indian Students 

As per the Australian govt notification, from 1 July 2023, student visa holders can work no more than 48 hours a fortnight while studying. Student visa holders have no work restrictions when their course of study or training is not in session. These restrictions allow students to focus on obtaining a quality Australian education and qualification, while also gaining valuable work experience and contributing to Australia’s workforce needs.

The notification also mentioned that student visa holders working in the aged care sector can work unrestricted hours in any type of work in the aged care sector until 31 December 2023. Any work outside of that sector is limited to 48 hours a fortnight, while their course is in session.

2. Extended Visa Opportunities in Australia for Indian Students 

As per the Australian government announcement on extended visa opportunities, from 1 July 2023, international higher education graduates with eligible qualifications will be granted an extra two years of post-study work rights. The extension applies to select degrees in areas of verified skill shortage. 

The undergraduates enrolled in any of these 400 selected programs will now have the chance to stay and work in Australia for four years, rather than the previous two-year limit. Master’s students studying within these selected disciplines will enjoy a five-year stay, as opposed to the previous three-year limit.

Upon completing their studies in Germany, students have the option to apply for a post-study work visa, enabling them to remain in the country. This visa facilitates part-time employment and allows graduates to search for a full-time job in their field of study for a duration of up to 18 months.

Eligibility for the post-study work visa is contingent on meeting certain criteria, including:
